MoonChild Fees & Insurance: Investing in Your Mental Health

Choosing therapy is an important step toward healing, growth, and long-term well-being. At Moonchild Counseling, we believe that investing in yourself is one of the most valuable decisions you can make. Our fees reflect the personalized, evidence-based care you’ll receive from licensed professionals who are deeply committed to your emotional wellness.

Our Current Therapy Rates At MoonChild Counseling

We offer several session types to fit your needs including Individual & Group Therapies.

Session fees with our licensed therapists start at $150 per 45 minute session, depending on the clinician’s experience and licensure.

Available both in-person (St. Petersburg, FL & Austin, TX) and virtually across Florida and Texas.

Using Insurance at MoonChild Counseling

We are a hybrid practice — meaning only one of our clinicians is in-network with insurance. The rest of our therapists are private pay but can offer superbills if your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits.

Samantha Goland, LCSW-S, QS, is in-network with a wide range of insurance plans through our partnership with HelloAlma. These are the plans she accepts:

  • Aetna (including AllSavers, Meritain, Allied, Christian Brothers, Trustmark, and more)

  • UnitedHealthcare / Optum (including UMR, UHC Student Resources, Surest [formerly Bind], and others)

  • Oscar, Oxford, and Nippon Life

  • Trustmark (Health Benefits and Small Business)

  • UnitedHealthcare Global

If you’re not sure whether your specific plan is included, you can check your benefits here you before scheduling.

While insurance coverage is important, finding the right match for your therapy goals and style will make all the difference in your progress. We’re happy to help you figure out who would be the best fit for you — reach out to us for guidance!

Our clinician: Natasha Cooley is private pay only.

  • Natasha can provide superbills after each session if you’d like to seek out-of-network reimbursement.

We totally understand that insurance can be tricky! Just because we accept some insurance plans doesn’t mean we accept all of them. If your insurance isn’t listed, don’t worry — we can still work with you as an out-of-network provider. We’ll be happy to provide you with superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Feel free to reach out to us, and we’ll work together to figure out the best option for you. We’re here to help and make the process as smooth as possible!

We recommend calling your insurance provider and asking:

  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for mental health therapy?

  • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?

  • What percentage of the session cost will be reimbursed?

  • How do I submit a superbill or claim?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that we can provide to you if you see one of our private-pay therapists. It includes the necessary information for you to submit a claim to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. While we can’t guarantee reimbursement, many of our clients have successfully used superbills to offset the cost of therapy.

No — since our graduate intern is not yet a licensed provider, her sessions are not eligible for superbills or insurance reimbursement. Intern sessions are set at a reduced rate to provide a more accessible therapy option for those paying fully out-of-pocket.

At this time, none of our providers are in-network with EAPs, and we don’t have plans to join those networks. However, if your employer offers EAP benefits, you can still see us as a private-pay client, and we can provide you with superbills that you may be able to submit for reimbursement through your EAP provider.

If you have any questions about how this works or need help navigating the process, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to make it as easy as possible for you to get the support you need!

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the expected cost of your therapy services if you’re not using insurance.

We’re happy to provide a Good Faith Estimate upon request. It will detail:

  • The type of services you’re receiving

  • Estimated number of sessions per year

  • Total expected cost

This helps you plan for the financial side of your care with full transparency. You can learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises.
