Samantha Goland, LCSW-QS, SEP, RYT200
You’re the one everyone counts on. You’re thoughtful, capable, and used to figuring things out, but lately, you’re exhausted from always being the one who holds everything together. Maybe you’re constantly overthinking, saying yes when you want to say no, putting everyone else’s needs before your own, or wondering when you started feeling so disconnected from yourself.
I work with teens and young women who are ready to break out of patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, and self-doubt. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, struggling in your relationships, or simply know that the way you’ve been doing things isn’t working anymore, therapy can be a place to slow down and understand what’s really going on.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and somatic, integrating Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, mindfulness, and relational therapy. Together, we’ll look beyond surface-level coping skills to understand your patterns, reconnect with your body, strengthen your boundaries, and build more trust in yourself.
You don’t need to come to therapy with everything figured out. You just need to be willing to get curious about yourself. I’ll bring the guidance and clinical expertise; you bring your own experience. We’ll figure out the rest together.
Meet Your Therapist:
Path to Healing and Growth Through Connection
I didn’t become a therapist because I had everything figured out. I became one because I’ve always been deeply curious about people, what shapes us, and why we sometimes find ourselves repeating patterns that no longer feel good.
In my early 20s, I was someone who could keep a very full plate. I cared deeply, set high expectations for myself, and was always thinking about what came next. From the outside, I probably looked like I was doing just fine. But I also knew what it felt like to overthink, put pressure on myself, and get so caught up in everything I should be doing that I lost touch with what I actually needed.
Those experiences shaped the therapist I wanted to become. I wanted to create a space where people could show up as they really are, without having to perform, have the right words, or pretend they have it all together. A space where we can slow down, get curious about what is underneath the surface, and figure things out together.
My own path eventually led me to social work and to deeper training in trauma, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, mindfulness, and relational therapy. The more I learned, the more I understood how connected our thoughts, emotions, bodies, relationships, and experiences really are.
That understanding is at the heart of Moonchild Counseling®. I created this practice to be a warm, grounded space for teens and women who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, set boundaries, let go of some of the pressure they’ve been carrying, and feel more like themselves again.
And while I’m your therapist, I don’t see myself as someone who has all the answers. Therapy is something we do together. I’ll bring my training, perspective, and guidance, and you’ll bring your own experience and insight. We’ll figure out what you need from there.
My approach
I offer trauma-informed, somatic, and relational therapy for teens and women who are tired of overthinking, overgiving, and putting everyone else first. My approach goes beyond coping skills to help you understand what is happening beneath the surface, reconnect with your body, and build a stronger sense of self.
Together, we can work through people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, trauma, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions while developing boundaries, self-trust, and a deeper connection to yourself. I integrate Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches based on what feels most supportive for you.
Therapy with me is collaborative. You are the expert on your own experience, and my role is to offer guidance, perspective, and tools while we work together toward meaningful change. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest, curious, and fully yourself as we slow down, understand your patterns, and create changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.
Education & Training
I earned my Master of Social Work and Certificate in Family Practice from Tulane University. Over my career, I’ve worked in diverse settings—including emergency rooms, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, intensive in-home programs, and outpatient clinics—addressing critical issues like human trafficking, domestic violence, child abuse, and family challenges. These experiences have equipped me with the knowledge and strategies to support clients effectively in individual therapy.

Clinical Specialties
I specialize in working with teen girls and women navigating people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, trauma, and self-esteem challenges. Many of the clients I work with are used to being the dependable one, keeping the peace, or holding everything together while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what they actually need.
I especially enjoy working with Latina and first-generation women who are navigating the expectations that can come with family, culture, identity, and being the first to forge their own path. We can explore how these experiences shape relationships, boundaries, self-worth, and the pressure to make everyone proud while still creating a life that feels true to you.
My work integrates Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, relational therapy, mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches to help you understand the patterns that keep you stuck, reconnect with your body, and develop greater self-trust and emotional resilience.
